Meet Matthew Thompson, Owner of Rooval Roofing

Lehi, Utah | Serving Utah County & Salt Lake County

I’ve been in construction for 10+ years. Somewhere along the way, I sat in on a class where the people teaching it talked about roofing differently than I’d heard it talked about before – not as a sales job, but as a way of protecting homeowners. That idea stuck with me, and I wanted to be part of it.

So my wife, Agustina, and I started Rooval Roofing in 2022 – the name comes from “roof removal” – and we built it around one rule: no transactional relationships. Your roof is the thing standing between your family and the weather. It’s protecting your home’s biggest asset. That deserves more than a quote and a handshake, and that’s what we set out to give Utah County homeowners when we opened our doors in Lehi in January 2022.

Why I still climb the ladder myself

I don’t have to get on every roof anymore. I choose to. I like people, and you can’t really take care of someone from the driveway. When I’m up there, I’m not just looking for the obvious damage – I’m photographing every elevation, checking the gutter line, counting every vent, pipe, and skylight, and pulling a shingle to confirm what it actually is rather than guessing. A roof inspection that stops at “yep, that needs work” isn’t a real inspection. Homeowners deserve the evidence, not just a number.

The job, in one story

A while back I was working on a house when the neighbor came over – a man in his sixties who’d been dealing with leaks he couldn’t get up and look at himself. He was bracing for a bill in the thousands. It turned out to be a simple repair. That night, he went to bed knowing his roof was handled.

That’s the whole job, as far as I’m concerned. Not every roof needs to be replaced. Sometimes it just needs someone who’ll climb up, tell the truth, and fix the actual problem.

What homeowners can expect from me

A real inspection, not a guess

I document every slope, every damage point, and every accessory on your roof, and I walk you through the photos myself — not a summary, the real thing.

Honest answers, even when they're not what sells a bigger job

If a test repair shows the roof can be fixed, that's often the end of it. I'd rather hand you a small repair and your trust than a new roof you didn't need.

A company that shows up

Rooval is licensed and insured, serving Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Vineyard, Orem, Provo, Spanish Fork, Springville, Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain, Herriman, Salt Lake City, Draper, West Jordan, Riverton, Bountiful, and West Valley.

Outside of work

My wife, Agustina, and I have been together since we were 19 and married since 2021. We’re raising four kids in Utah County, and between us we run every side of Rooval – I lead the work in the field, she runs the office, scheduling, and everything that keeps a project moving from the first call to the last nail. When I’m not on a roof, you’ll usually find me on a walk, with my family, or volunteering in our community.
