Metal Roof Leaking or Damaged by Wind?

While metal roofing is exceptionally tough, exposed screw gaskets dry out over time, and improper flashing around chimneys or valleys can let water into your decking.
Then skip the form and call us. We provide prompt leak tracing, fastener replacements, ridge cap repairs, and emergency storm sealing to keep your interior protected.

Why Upgrade to Metal Roofing in Utah?

Asphalt shingles typically need replacement every 18–25 years under harsh Wasatch weather. A properly installed metal roof is a lifetime investment designed to handle Utah’s toughest seasonal swings:

Engineered for 120+ MPH Canyon Winds

Properly installed standing seam systems lock down against winds well past 120 mph. The violent gusts that roll out of Provo Canyon and American Fork Canyon peel shingles, not locked metal panels.

Effortless Winter Snow & Ice Shedding

Smooth metal profiles prevent heavy snowpack buildup and eliminate winter ice dams at your eaves. Snow slides off safely rather than ponding and leaking into attic insulation.

Maximum Class 4 Hail & Impact Defense

Heavy-gauge steel and stone-coated metal panels withstand severe hail strikes without cracking or puncturing, which can bruise asphalt shingles and quietly shorten their lifespan.

Reflective Cooling & Long-Term Energy Savings

Advanced Kynar 500® paint finishes reflect solar heat and infrared rays, cutting summer attic temperatures and reducing cooling costs across the Salt Lake Valley.

Thinking about replacing an aging asphalt roof with a lifetime metal system? We inspect your existing structure, show you style and color samples, and give you a straight, documented answer.

Comprehensive Metal Roofing Services

From modern architectural standing-seam profiles to rustic stone-coated steel and durable utility panels, we deliver precision metal installations tailored to your property.

Architectural Standing Seam Systems

  • Concealed-Fastener Standing Seam: Premium mechanical or snap-lock panels where all clips and screws are hidden underneath the metal surface, completely eliminating exposed screw gasket leak risks.
  • Custom Profiles, Colors & Trim Fabrication: Tailored panel widths, standing seam heights, and custom brake-formed flashings designed to match your home’s exact architectural lines.

Metal Shingles & Specialty Profiles

  • Stone-Coated Steel Roofing: The durability of structural steel combined with the traditional curb appeal of architectural shingles, clay tile, or wood shake.
  • Interlocking Metal Shakes & Slate: High-end, multi-dimensional metal shingles engineered to withstand 120+ MPH wind loads without the heavy structural weight of natural slate or concrete tile.

Exposed-Fastener & Corrugated Panels

  • Corrugated & R-Panel Systems: Economical, rugged metal roofing engineered for detached garages, large workshops, barns, and modern agrarian-style homes.
  • Commercial & Utility Metal Installations: Fast, cost-effective panel coverage providing durable weather protection and long-term security for light commercial facilities.

Replacement, Maintenance & Finishes

  • Full Metal Roof Replacement & Tear-Off: Clean tear-off of old shingles, structural decking inspection, high-temp ice barrier installation, and precision metal panel fitting.
  • Fastener Replacement & Kynar 500® Finishes: Proactive leak maintenance (replacing degraded neoprene washers, resealing transitions) and factory-applied PVDF finishes that resist chalking and fading for decades under intense Utah UV.

What Affects Metal Roof Installation Cost?

A metal roof is a premium home asset that costs more upfront than asphalt, but pays for itself over decades of zero tear-offs:

Panel System Type

Concealed-fastener standing seam requires specialized hand craftsmanship compared to economical exposed-fastener corrugated sheets.

Steel Gauge & Material

24-gauge architectural steel vs. 26-gauge utility panels, or stone-coated metal systems.

Roof Geometry & Pitch

Valleys, dormers, skylights, and multiple roof planes require custom brake-metal flashing and meticulous on-site metal fabrication.

Underlayment Upgrades

High-temperature, synthetic self-adhering membranes designed to handle radiant metal heat and prevent condensation.

You’ll receive a clear, itemized written proposal following your free on-site consultation.

I was quite impressed with Matthew. He sent me a text to let me know he was on his way and he was actually on my doorstep probably less than one hour after I contacted them. We had a mystery roof leak that was dripping water through a can light in our hallway each time we've had a downpour of heavy rain. He quickly diagnosed the problem, made the repairs, checked in my attic for residual moisture, and left me with a warranty, and all was done in probably less than a couple of hours. He was very personable and pleasant to work with. I have confidence I don't need to worry anymore whenever we get a heavy rainstorm!

Here's the deal, we made a mistake. We didn't go with Rooval Roofing for our new roof and we are regretting it now. We picked a company that wasn't as highly rated, but was a bit cheaper. We got what we paid for. Our roof has numerous issues and we aren't happy. We talked with Rooval and even though we didn't contract them for our roof they are still nice enough to help fix the problems we are having. This is a classic example of "you get what you pay for" so if you're on the fence I hope this review sways you in the right direction, and Rooval Roofing is the right choice! The company and its employees are first class. Don't make the mistake we did. The shortest road is always the longest.

Metal Roofing FAQs

Is a metal roof noisy when it rains?

No. When installed over solid plywood/OSB decking and modern sound-dampening underlayment, rain falling on a residential metal roof sounds virtually identical to rain on an asphalt shingle roof.

The opposite is true. Metal reflects solar radiation rather than absorbing and holding heat like traditional dark asphalt shingles. With factory Kynar 500® reflective coatings and proper ridge ventilation, metal roofs keep attics significantly cooler.

Standing seam uses concealed clips hidden beneath raised interlocking ribs; no screws penetrate the surface facing the weather. Exposed-fastener systems (like corrugated panels) are screwed directly through the face of the metal using rubber-gasket screws, which require screw tightening or replacement every 10–15 years.

In some cases, Utah building code allows metal roof installation over a single layer of shingles using furring strips. However, we strongly recommend a full tear-off down to the wood deck to inspect for hidden rot and install high-temp ice barrier membranes.

A quality standing seam or stone-coated steel roof lasts 40 to 60 years with minimal maintenance, easily outlasting two to three cycles of conventional asphalt shingles.
